INITIAL SITUATION & GOALS

Leveraging intrinsic motivation for sustainability as a unique selling proposition

In November 2019, the City of Zurich will award the contract for organizing the “Wienachtsdorf” (Christmas Village) for the next five years. As the current partner, Schöne Bescherung AG wishes to continue operating the Christmas market at Bellevue and will therefore submit a new bid for the partnership. In doing so, the company intends to leverage its intrinsic commitment to a sustainable Christmas Village as a unique selling point among the applicants. To achieve this goal, Foodways is bringing together the necessary expertise and the right stakeholders to develop a comprehensive concept.

OUR SOLUTION

A Five-Year Plan for a Sustainable Christmas Village

A sustainability strategy is being formulated based on a comprehensive analysis of material and energy flows. This strategy, supported by an implementation roadmap spanning five years, is intended to contribute to the sustainable development of the “Wienachtsdorf” (Christmas Village). In alignment with the sustainability goals of the City of Zurich, the objective is to ensure that Schöne Bescherung AG can continue to host the Christmas market. The services provided by Foodways include:

  • Designing an implementation roadmap
  • Analyzing flows of goods, materials, and energy
  • Collaborative prioritization of topics and goal setting
  • Developing a sustainability concept

IMPACT & RESULTS

With this analysis and sustainability strategy, Schöne Bescherung AG has gained an impact-oriented foundation for organizing future Christmas markets in alignment with the vision of the City of Zurich.
