INITIAL SITUATION & GOALS
Does a digital traceability solution make sense for the dairy industry?
Consumers demand transparent information. Digital traceability processes can bolster consumer credibility in strong brands and foster greater trust among the various links in the food supply chain. In a research project conducted with the University of Zurich and the think tank Dezentrum, Foodways is evaluating potential applications of blockchain technology to enhance transparency within the dairy industry.
OUR SOLUTION
A prototype for testing potential applications
As part of an exploratory research project, Foodways is investigating potential applications of blockchain technology for increasing transparency. In collaboration with industry partner Molkerei Fuchs AG, the project uses a prototype technology to examine operational processes and identify opportunities. The findings are then discussed with representatives from the food sector to evaluate their future utility and practical viability.
- Conceptualization, financing, and implementation of the case study
- Concept for the technical prototype
- Acquisition of the industry partner, Molkerei Fuchs AG
- Recruitment and conduct of interviews within the food industry
- Networking among various stakeholders
IMPACT & RESULTS
This exploratory research project enables progress to be made in the transition toward a transparent supply chain.
